The Benefits of Bedtime Stories
May 01, 2024You might be reading this post before, during, or after our official 5-Day Bring Back Bedtime Stories Challenge, and that's okay! The content in this post is a golden reminder no matter when you read it.
Sometimes after I've wrestled my 4 littles through their bedtime routine and I have everyone tucked in for the 3rd time, I don't feel like reading a bedtime story... I feel like crawling in bed myself!
BUT...
Erin found this beautiful quote that punched me right in the gut. "Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift." -Kate DiCamillo
I'm going to be honest here...my husband is usually the one who reads to the kids. He sits in the hallway between all of their rooms and reads incredibly loud for all to hear. I don't always approve of the books he reads, but the kids love them. Alright, enough about me...
At our school, we are celebrating National Screen Free Week from May 6-10 to encourage families to spend quality time together without technology. That got us thinking... What better way to take a break from screens than reading!
We are officially challenging you to join us in our 5-Day
#BringBackBedtimeStories Challenge!
Everyone knows that working out is good for you and that getting to the gym is the hardest part. Once your workout is complete you can go through the rest of your day knowing you did your body good. Guess what, bedtime stories are the same way. We know that there are so many benefits to reading to our children, but sometimes "getting there" is the hardest part. Let me remind you of the benefits...
Throughout the challenge, Erin and I will encourage you (and ourselves) and give away a few amazing prizes, including:
⭐$25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card
⭐$25 Amazon Gift Card
⭐A Free LIFT OFF! to Literacy course (valued at $127-$157)
Depending on when you sign up, there may be a few days until we officially start on May 6, or we might be half way through the challenge and you're just joining. Either way, let's Bring Back Bedtime Stories together! And, if the challenge is completely over by the time you read this: 1. We will do it again so make sure to subscribe to our e-mail list. 2. You can challenge your family and create your own prizes!
Join the challenge by clicking the button below. We hope to see you there!
Happy Reading!
