Student Materials

Inside your child's Boost Box, you'll find an expanding organizer. Perfect for keeping everything sorted by week, this organizer is also great for taking on-the-go!

To keep learning fun, and to make sure your child is set up for success, we've included a pencil pouch with all of the materials your child will need. Items include: pencil, pencil sharpener, pointer stick, googly eyed reading ring, highlighter, dry erase marker, dice, magnifying glass, and counters. (The kindergarten tools are a bit different! You'll also find a set of magnetic letters and a beginner's pencil grip to help your child learn the proper way to hold a pencil.)

Weekly Checklists

We've chosen the 8 skills from your child's previous school year that are the most critical to retain. Your child will spend 1 week reviewing and working on each skill. To help with organization (and motivation!), we've included a checklist with a reward coupon for each week. Have your child brainstorm the reward they'd like to work towards (before starting each week) and you'll be amazed at how motivated they are to check off tasks on their list!

Word Lists

Each week of activities starts with a word list for your child to read. A QR code at the bottom of the page links to a quick 1-minute video with directions for your child. There are words, phrases, and sentences with the targeted skill. Three smiley faces at the bottom encourage your child to practice reading the page 3x through for additional fluency practice. (A smiley face gets colored in after each time.)

The word lists aren't too long and are manageable for your child!

Decodable Readers

For every skill, we've included a decodable story for your child to read. Decodable readers are texts that have been carefully written to contain mostly words with patterns that your child has previously learned. That means, your child will have great success with these! Both fiction and nonfiction decodable readers are included, and cover an interesting array of topics. Each decodable reader has a QR code on the back that links to a video with directions!

These decodable readers are our best sellers, and have been used by thousands of students! They are highly reviewed by teachers... we know your child will love them too.

Comprehension

A comprehension questions page is also included for each decodable reader. When your child is finished reading the story, there are 3 short questions to answer. The answers can be found in the story, so this is a great way for your child to practice using the text for help! This also makes sure that your child is working on their understanding of the story.

Games

Get ready for some fun! These games will have your child begging to play again and again. 8 games are included, one for each week, covering all of the skills in your child's boost box. Card games, board games, an ice cream stacking game, a cookie flip game, and much more are included!

All of the materials needed for each game are also included in the zippered pouch in your child's boost box. There is no need to hunt down any of the materials, we've already got you covered!

Spelling Practice

A short and sweet spelling practice is also included for each week. We've worked hard to keep each activity quick yet effective! Every week, your child will practice spelling 6 words with the targeted skill using the "Tap, Map, Read, and Write" method. A QR code on each page links to a quick video with directions. Colorful pictures keep your child engaged, while sound boxes help your child segment the sounds in the word before spelling.
