LIFT OFF! to Literacy Placement Assessment
Watch this quick video to learn how to give the placement assessment to your child!
How It Works
Choose whether you want to use the online assessment below or the printable placement assessment. Have your child sit next to you. Explain that you're going to see what they know about letters & words so you can help grow their reading brain! Tell your child that it's okay not to know all of the words.
Start the placement assessment. Ask your child to tell you the letter sounds and/or read each group of words aloud. There are 5 words to read in each group with 13 questions max. (You probably won't get to all 13!)
If your child begins to struggle as the words get more difficult, you can just answer "NO" for the remainder of the questions. (You don't need to have them attempt to read the remaining words. We don't want them to get frustrated!)
Finish and/or submit the assessment and praise your child for doing their best! If you took the online version, you will see a breakdown of the results once completed. Then, use the placement guide in the section below to determine where your child should start.
LIFT OFF! Placement Guide
After completing the assessment, use the placement guide below to determine where your child should be enrolled. To do this, find the first NO response on the assessment. This is your child's starting point in the LIFT OFF! to Literacy Program! Then, click on the "Enroll Now!" button to enroll your child.
